Hello! I’m Dr. Alyssa Dickerson, a Certified Nurse-Midwife, IBCLC, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) based in Huntington, Indiana. I have provided compassionate, community-centered care since the onset of the pandemic in spring 2020. As the need for accessible, innovative healthcare has grown, I have been committed to creating alternative pathways to essential, patient-centered services.
I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2023 from Missouri State University, following my Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in 2019. A registered nurse since 2013, I bring experience in both cardiac and labor & birth nursing, supporting a comprehensive, whole-person approach to care.
Over the past several years, I developed a home birth and women’s health service line, which has since evolved into an integrative health clinic offering comprehensive, individualized care. I have also collaborated closely with teams of OBGYNs and Certified Nurse-Midwives, with a focus on fertility and midwifery care.
For more than six years, I have supported families through out-of-hospital birth, women’s health, perinatal mental health, newborn care, childbirth education, and new family coaching.
I value connection, education, and therapeutic communication, and I enjoy teaching, learning languages, and spending time with my family.
My strengths include empathy, optimism, and the ability to build meaningful relationships. I specialize in perinatal mental health and offer services in both English and Spanish.

My services include select prenatal care services; labor and lactation and newborn care; routine gynecologic visits; and comprehensive integrative women’s healthcare. I also offer diagnostic laboratory testing, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, holistic and evidence-based care for anxiety and depression, weight management, fertility and thyroid optimization, medical skin care, and additional individualized services tailored to each patient’s needs.

Your plan includes clear interpretation of results, medication guidance when appropriate, targeted supplement recommendations, and practical nutrition and lifestyle strategies aligned with your goals. Each plan is designed to be manageable and realistic, with follow-up support to monitor progress and adjust as needed. What is a Certified Nurse-Midwife
- Midwifery as practiced by certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) encompasses the independent provision of care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the
postpartum period; sexual and reproductive health; gynecologic health; and family planning
services, including preconception care. - Midwives also provide primary care for individuals from
adolescence throughout the lifespan as well as care for the healthy newborn during the first 28
days of life. - Midwives provide initial and ongoing comprehensive
assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. They conduct physical examinations; independently prescribe medications including but not limited to controlled substances, treatment of substance use disorder, and expedited partner therapy; admit, manage, and discharge patients; order and
interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests; and order medical devices, durable medical equipment, and home health services. - Midwifery care includes health promotion, disease prevention, risk assessment and management, and individualized wellness education and counseling.
- These services are provided in partnership with individuals and families in diverse settings such as ambulatory care clinics, private offices, telehealth and other methods of remote care delivery, community and public health systems, homes, hospitals, and birth centers.
Concierge Medicine
Concierge Medicine is an alternative primary care model built on a better relationship between the provider and patient without the hassles of the traditional primary care experience. Concierge Medicine means not being in network with insurance- giving more freedom to focus on patient needs, rather than insurance red tape. Patients pay for the service with cash, credit card, or HSA card rather than using their health insurance, which allows enhanced access, convenience, and additional services.
Concierge medicine allows the provider to see far fewer patients than traditional primary care providers and spend more time with each patient.
